1 THE BOOK
2 THE ALBUM:
Bebo "Best" Baldan's new ambitious musical project is entirely dedicated to Frank Zappa, 30 years after his absence Eclectic, fierce, transcendent. Solo electric guitar prodigy Frank Zappa (1940-1993) thrilled fans with unprecedented musical provocations, polluted genres and loved to experiment with his own sonic solutions.

An International joint project with Gramophoniq recordS, featuring some of the most interesting and complex contemporary classical, jazz, musical scores of the 20th century.

In later years he performed with classical ensembles, most notably the London Symphony Orchestra. Among his passions were composers such as Igor Stravinsky, Edgar Varèse and Pierre Boulez, all extraordinary experimenters of new musical languages. Boulez himself considered Zappa an extraordinary musician because popular music and classical music belonged to two worlds.

The new ambitious musical project of Bebo "Best" Baldan, is dedicated entirely to Frank Zappa, 30 years after his death. Eclectic, fierce, transcendent. Solo electric guitar prodigy Frank Zappa (1940-1993) thrilled fans with unprecedented musical provocations, polluted genres and loved to experiment with his own sonic solutions. The Yellow Shark is the Maestro's latest masterpiece and perhaps the greatest culmination of Frank Zappa's entire repertoire. Commissioned by the Frankfurt Festival in 1991, the album was recorded live in 1993 by the German avant-garde group Ensemble Modern and released on the independent label Rykodisc. Despite his illness, Zappa personally supervised the score and all concert rehearsals, but performed only a few live songs, leaving the rest of the performance to Peter Randel. The album consists of 19 tracks, all with a rather complex structure. Some are adaptations of existing works, others are new songs written especially for Ensemble Modern. BEBO BALDAN AKA BEBO BEST PLAYS ZAPPA FAVTUNES, FEAT. THE BBC SIPMHONY ORCHESTRA DISCOVER PROJECT This is a joint project with Gramophoniq records and Chin-Chin records (U.K./DE), offering the opportunity to work with some of the most interesting and complex musical scores of the 20th century. This time the ensemble will be led by Bebo Baldan (a.k.a. Bebo Best), one of the most innovative musicians on the international scene. Bebo is a talented musician who is well known all over the world. His albums are sold in over 100 countries around the world, by over 100 million listeners, going beyond his repertoire to explore contemporary avant-garde and crossover music. Years of exploring uncharted territories. How did your passion for Frank Zappa start? I HAD A Classical/Contemporary TRAINING, with teachers from the Orchestra of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice. Zappa was the most interesting musician of his generation. The main reason he attracted me was his different approach to rock, his mix of melodic and contemporary, and also the influences of contemporary composers like Edgar Varèse and John Cage, jazz, and Bartok, Stravinsky. In general, I love that whatever Zappa's music is, it's of such a high quality. He just struck me as absolutely stunning. What the Duke (Zappa) represents today Because his compositions are rarely performed live. Even today there are many Frank Zappa fans, especially in Germany, but his music is not very popular and famous among the younger generation. In the age of specialists, many conductors do not dare to tackle scores that they consider too complex to play due to their connection with Zappa's rock background. The Yellow Shark (Frank Zappa's last classic work), the summary of his culture, is an unclassifiable album, a hybrid genre that lies between ironic and cultural music. But it is an unrepeatable opportunity to approach Frank Zappa's repertoire and rediscover some of his best rock and pop productions. Not difficult music, but intelligent and quality music. What is the BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover project and what role does it play in the album. The English production house Spitfire Audio created this project to make the real BBC Symphony Orchestra available for the production of sounds and soundtracks. Frank Zappa's music was later transcribed into scores for musicians from the Prophet Orchestra and the La Scala choir, which can be difficult to interpret. Of the 9 songs that make up the album, which one is the hardest to play AND what's the hardest to understand, to hear Paradoxically, the hardest to hear is the easiest to play, and the easiest to hear is the most difficult to play. Like Vivaldi and Bartok.
