Throughout his prolific career, he has participated in over 400 CDs, working beside legendary personalities such as David Torn, James Taylor, and Gilberto Gil. Active as a producer, musician, and arranger from 1987 to the present, Bebo Best a.k.a. Bebo Baldan, theAlchemist, established an early and influential role in the global music scene as a visionary composer, arranger, and session man. His works have been released by various prominent European labels alongside masters of the avant-garde and contemporary music world, including Jon Hassell, Steven Brown, Steve Reich, Michael Nyman, Wim Mertens, David Torn, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and Frank Zappa. He has received international accolades for his highly original use of electronic instrumentation seamlessly melted with world, jazz, classical, and pop music.

Background, Training, and Early Career

His musical journey began as a young man studying contemporary classical music in Venice. He joined the elite "Percussione e Ricerca Ensemble," studying first as a student and later returning as a teacher, under the guidance of Gottardo Paganin and Eddy De Fanti, master percussionists of the prestigious Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice. During this formative period, Bebo dedicated himself entirely to the study and live performance of avant-garde masterworks by composers such as Edgard Varèse, John Cage, Steve Reich, and Terry Riley.
